I firmly believe that the shower is one of the best places to have a conversation with God. There are absolutely no distractions...other than occasionally turning the water to a higher temperature. ;D
This last week was one of the most fantastic, fun, enjoyable, and happy weeks I've had in a long time. Not that weeks before have been bad...this one was just extra amazing. :)
Two Fridays ago, David had a music banquet thing that was for all the kids in Kutztown's marching band. I was his special guest of honor. :) That was really awesome for me cause I got to meet a bunch of his band friends that he's always talking about, and put faces with names. Plus, it gave me a chance to dress up. :) Yay re-using homecoming dresses!
And since the dance ended pretty late, my mom suggested that I stay over at the college...which was totally fine with me. :) I slept over at Erika's apartment (a girl David knows from band) and then I got to spend all of Saturday with David. :) Well most of Saturday...he had a football game at 12 so I spent those four hours in his room stumbling on the computer and then taking a two hour nap...which I was pleasantly woken up from. :) We ate dinner with his friend Ethan and then went to the senior recital of another one of his friends, Mike. That was a lot of fun to be at...good music, good playing, good stuff. Courtney drove me and David back home, and then he spent the night at my house! (His family was on vacation)
Woke up around 7 on Sunday and got to spend some quality snuggle time with David...during which he mentioned something about wanting a McGriddle and then we were like, hey, why not? So we went to McDonald's at like 8:30 in the morning, got a yummy breakfast, picked up some coffee for mom at WaWa, and then went back home. We took the youngins to church (mom was tired/sick), and then he went to his house to work on a paper while I spent the rest of the day over at dad's. He left that night at like 9 but then came back home Tuesday night!
Spent the night Tuesday...got all of Wednesday together (after I presented my grad project, which went PHENOMENALLY well), watched "Fight Club" Wednesday night (loved it/was confused/scared of it all at the same time), spent the night Wednesday, got all of Thursday together...which was awesome cause it was Thanksgiving, spent the night Thursday...and then left Friday for Bluecoats at around 9 in the morning.
I. WAS. SPOILED THIS WEEK. It was awesome. :)
And yes Cara, you can make fun of me for blogging about my man... ;D
...and then he says something completely unexpected that amazes you beyond belief.
Tonight when David was driving me home he started telling me about how his English class has been looking at a lot of advertisements lately, especially ones targeted for women. He then proceeded to go on a rant about how he's fed up with society and its twisted views of beauty. And I quote: "The women on the front of magazines or in movies that are portrayed as being 'ideal'...yeah, I don't really find them that attractive."
MIND BLOWN. Like...I think most of them are really really pretty. So I'm sitting there, a little bewildered, and he goes on to talk about how society's ideal body shape is stick thin, but being that thin usually comes with little boobs...so then women pump themselves with silicon to get the bigger boobs but skinny body. NOT NATURAL. So it doesn't appeal to him. And he said he hates how their skin is always airbrushed...no flaws look ridiculous cause no one's like that, so it's not a 'turn on' for him cause he knows it's fake and why would he want something fake?
Him saying all that was like WOAH to me...like I can understand the thought process behind it all, but in my mind, those women are beautiful. I WISH I had the perfect skin. I WISH I could be just a bit skinnier but keep my boobs (which are awesome...just saying :P). Society's way of thinking has rubbed off on me...and even though I'm completely self-confident in who I am and I so do love my curves most of the the time, I have moments where I feel inadequate compared to those women/actresses.
Like tonight...we watched "Water for Elephants" (a very good movie, by the way) and in one scene the main actress comes out in this circus costume that exposes a lot of skin and it made her figure look really good. So my first thought was, "Oh she looks good" and then, "I wonder what I'd look like wearing that...probably not as good as she does." Like that was my first reaction. Even though I love who I am. Society really is a jerk.
Somehow David's immune to it though...or just has the ability to recognize the falsity of it all and be repulsed by it. I love knowing that he thinks I'm more beautiful than the women in the magazines...BECAUSE I have flaws and BECAUSE I have a real body that doesn't fit in size 0 jeans. He truly loves all of me...and that's an amazing feeling. I know that even if society gets to me, it'll never get to him or influence the way he looks at me.
