2:30 in the morning...

It's 2:30 in the morning and I'm sitting here eating a bowl of mini wheats...haha, who'd have ever guessed one of my posts would start like this. :P

My youth group leaves today at 3:30 AM (which is why I'm up so early...) to go to Ohio for a Mennonite Convention with concerts, and speakers, worship time, activities, sports, and TONS of other youth groups with whole bunches of people that we get to meet and hang out with for the week. Convention technically starts tomorrow but the youth leaders are taking us on a surprise trip today (we think it's a water park, but no one will tell us) and then we're staying in college dorms tonight, and then going to our hotel for Convention in the morning.

I. AM. SO. EXCITED.

It's the first year I'm old enough to go to Convention and there have been SOOO many good stories about it and I can't wait to spend some more time with my youth group. In Sunday School our youth group is never that close...but whenever we go away, it's always an AMAZING experience. Except for the waking up at 2 in the morning part... :P

I'm gonna miss everyone though...and what stinks the most is that DK was gone all of Friday, Saturday, and mostly Sunday (I got to see him for two hours last night at an AWESOM concert, remind me to post on that when I get back) and now I'm leaving early this morning. :(

But it's gonna be an amazing week and I can't wait and I really should go get dressed now cause I'm sitting here in shorts and a cami...time to go put a shirt on and then finish getting ready!!! :] :] :]

Love...

This morning in church our pastor preached about love, it was a pretty good sermon. I wrote down a few notes on the stuff I really liked:

There are three different kinds of love---named differently for a reason.
  • PHILEO love is a BECAUSE love, you love that person BECAUSE you have a deep and personal friendship with them, BECAUSE you enjoy spending time with them, BECAUSE they bring joy into your life.
  • EROS love is a BECAUSE love, you love that person BECAUSE you feel that special way towards them, BECAUSE you get those butterflies in your stomach, BECAUSE you're always anticipating the next time you'll get to see them.
  • AGAPE love is an EVEN THOUGH love, you're gonna love that person EVEN THOUGH they hurt you, EVEN THOUGH you don't like them, EVEN THOUGH you presently feel nothing for them, EVEN THOUGH things they do cause you pain.

Agape LOVES even though...

As a person we can do many great things in the world, share God's word, help others, give to those who are in need...but if you do not love others you gain nothing and it means nothing.

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails." 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

Jesus is LOVE. Replace Jesus' name with LOVE:

"JESUS is patient, JESUS is kind..."

Then replace your OWN name with love...are you loving with agape? What areas do you need to work on? Reading the traits challenges us to live with Christ's love.

I want to love sacrificially...intentionally...and unconditionally...

Go For It!

I found this really cool mini book with lots of really cool quotes and stuff in it (the bold are my favorite). :] :] :]

Go For It!
Success is making the best possible use of what you have been given.
Dreams are like stars...you can't touch them, but you can follow them to your destiny.
Many people have gone further than they thought they could because someone else thought they could.
The only way to see a rainbow is to look through the rain.
The harder you fall, the higher you bounce.
Success is the ability to do better than good enough.
If you refuse to accept anything but the best, you'll get the best.
The best way out of a difficulty is through it.
Happiness is not doing what you like, but liking what you must do.
Admit your mistakes---before somebody else exaggerates them.
Success is building the foundations with the bricks people throw at you.
It's not because things are difficult that we don't dare...it's because we don't dare that things are difficult.
Obstacles: those things you see when you take your eyes off your goals.
A big shot is a little shot who kept shooting.
The mark of true genius is orgininality.
People can because they think they can.
The greater the difficulty, the more glory in overcoming it.
There is no worth in anything that is not difficult to achieve.
People who do things that count usually don't stop to count them.
A success is a dreamer someone believed in.
People become great by doing what they don't want to do when they don't want to do it.
Getting anywhere means starting somewhere.

Yesterday Was INSANE

Yesterday morning I woke up around 7:00, rolled over in bed, reminisced (good stuff ;D), and then went back asleep. Next thing I knew, I heard my mom saying, "Rachel...Rachel you gotta wake up..." Totally confused as to why I HAD to get up on a Saturday morning, I roll back over and she says, "Did you forget you're babysitting the L. kids today?" RIGHT. "We're leaving in about 2 hours" and then she walked out of the room. I stretched and looked at the clock, 10:46, then groggily got out of bed. Ate a quick bowl of Lucky Charms, got on the computer, did Facebook stuff, and then went upstairs to try to take a quick shower...HAH. Got out of the shower, brushed through my hair, and then we were out the door and into the car.

We got to the L. at around 1:00, Mrs. L. showed me what to feed them for dinner (I've already babysat them before so I know the general rules and all that), gave a few guidelines about things like playing with the hose or going for a walk down the road, and then the parents left for the wedding.

There were three kids: Sydney (youngest, 6), Marshall (9), and Brooke (11). I already know Brooke cause she's close to my age and I know most of the kids at my church, and I know Sydney from Camp Ichthus, she was my little buddy. So Brooke had just gotten back from Spruce Lake so she was telling me all her stories and Sydney and Marshall were really bored so we decided to go outside and play baseball. It's kinda hard to play baseball with only four people...so we just all kinda took turns pitching and batting (I actually hit the ball a couple times! I was so proud of myself... ;D) and running around the "bases"---a telephone pole, a tree, and their pool. They live WAY OUT THERE. They pretty much live on a farm, there's animals and a barn and all this hay and cows and tons of chickens everywhere, they rent the house next to the barn, so they don't take care of the animals, someone else does, but it's pretty cool cause I got a tour of all the animals there. There was a WHITE peacock! It was SOOO pretty.

Then we were all sweaty so we went inside and Sydney wanted to play School. So Brooke was the teacher, I was the assistant, and Marshall was the janitor. It was going pretty well but then Marshall got all rowdy and would not calm down...so we decided it was time for an ice cream break. ;D Yummy ice cream sandwiches...then they wanted to go on a walk outside and we ended up hiking a mile down the road and went to this park. We walked around for awhile, sat on the swings, and then jumped (literally) into the creek. They were DRENCHED. I waded in the water and my shorts got really wet but I didn't want to go all the way in (it was DEEP) cause I didn't have a change of clothes or anything. We were in the water for about...an hour? Maybe more? It was a long time.

Then we took a shortcut back to their house instead of walking ALL the way back through the park and the mile home---we cut across the creek, walked through the forest, and cut onto the road, saving about 20 minutes of walking time. ;D

We got back to the house and rinsed off our legs in the tub (poison ivy), then headed downstairs and turned on Beverly Hills Chihuahua. A little into the movie we paused it and got dinner (leftovers, I had this broccoli salad? It was bizarre and there were RAISINS, but I survived... :P). Then we finished the movie (it actually wasn't horrible...definitely not a Rachel favorite though), and it was around 6, which is when the parents said they'd be home. Well...then Brooke got a call from her mom and the reception was JUST finishing up so they'd be home at 7:30...oh boy. What to do with three hyper kids (they had dessert) for another hour and then some...so we headed outside, got out the hose, had a "shower" outside, chased each other around, went in, dried off, and then headed back out and went on another walk. On our way back to the house the parents drove by! Yay!!! So then Mr. L. got dressed (er...changed into more comfortable clothes ;D), and drove me home.

I walk into the house and Sanya's standing there in her swimsuit (with my dad next to her, he went to the beach with Josh for a day, he looked like a LOBSTER, SO BURNT), and I asked if she was going in. Mom said she wanted to but couldn't find anyone that would go in with her, so I volunteered, headed upstairs, changed into my suit, went outside, and plunged into the FREEZING cold water at 8:00 at night...OMWord it was COLD. But we played "chase Rachel" for awhile, and then it just got too cold, so we got out, headed inside, and then Sanya beat me to the shower. :P

So I'm sitting upstairs in my parent's room, on the floor, with a towel around me SHAKING and watching stupid TV. She finished up, I got in, took a nice LOOOOOOOONG hot shower (felt so good...), got out, came downstairs (mom was on the computer), and just COLLAPSED in front of the TV...I was WIPED OUT.

I was in a really weird mood last night...well, maybe not weird, just overwhelmed. I've been so busy ALL day, thinking about the kids and focusing on only them and going and going and going (why do little kids have so much energy???), and now that I've finally stopped...EVERYTHING has caught up with me...I'm dead tired, I have to do everyone's laundry tomorrow, I have to be COMPLETELY packed before the concert tomorrow night or else I can't go, and then...David Kile. I miss him...

(Updated)

My LONGUH post was updated. :] :] :]

I am a GENIUS...

Ok, so, I decided to go outside and swim cause it was just too hot for me to be inside sitting at the computer and doing nothing.

So I got my swimsuit on, and went out swimming all by myself. The water was FREEZINGUH. I was jumping around for a little while, practing some strokes swimming back and forth width wise, doing flip turns and then just being crazy and having a good time.

After awhile I decided to sing and fing my scales underwater cause I'm just that AWESOM. ;D I was seeing how many of them I could sing before having to take a breath---I got to four. :P

So then I'm doing that on the bottom of the pool and looking up at the sky (which looks SO COOL through the water), and lying there made me think of the breathing exercises we do with Mr. O. And then THAT reminded me of how Mr. O. shows us how to breathe, with the stomach thing.

So for awhile I'm just standing in the middle of the pool, with my head down, looking at my stomach and just...uh...breathing.

All of a sudden I hear, "...Rachel?" and I look up and say, "Yeah??" and my mom pauses for a moment and then says, "What are you DOING???"/"Oh...HAHA. I guess I do look kinda silly..."/"Yes you look absolutely ridiculous, but what are you doing??"/"...breathing exercises Mr. O. taught us."/"Haha! Ok then..." She heads back inside and I am standing there LAUGHING MY HEAD OFF. I can just imagine what I looked like...WOW.

So then, being the genius I am, I had a BRILLIANT idea (or at least I thought it was brilliant at the time). I decided that I'd do the breathing exercises UNDERWATER. That way mom wouldn't have to see me looking all stupid...

So I go under, and take a HUGE breath and as the water is travelling down my throat and into my lungs I realize...oh, you can't do breathing exercises underwater cause you can't BREAHTE UNDERWATER!!!!

Just as soon as I realize that I start choking on the water and decide then I should probably get out of the pool...

Wow...breathing exercises underwater...I am a GENIUS...

THE LONGUH POST ABOUT MY AHMAZINGUH DAY YESTERDAY

Ok, so yesterday Cara and DK came over for like 12 HOURS. It was...AHMAZINGUH.

Cara got here at 8:19 (HAHA!!!), and we had a little episode with our mom's. Made me laugh. ;D Then DK got here at 8:29 and we decided to watch a movie and I wanted to show them What About Bob?. So I'm thinking about the movie and I'm like, "Uh...I don't think Josh and Sanya should watch this" but mom looked at the box, saw that it was PG and said it was ok. WELL...mom redirected them to different activities a little after the movie had started... ;D

It was GREAT. It starts and Bob's this OCD freak and Cara's like, "I love him!!!" and then we're introduced to Dr. Leo Marvin and she absolutely HATED HIM. She was making the FUNNIEST FACES. Ahhh...it was great. And then when something bad would happen she'd just be like, "Hah! He DESERVES it...JERK!!!" So funny... :] :] :]

Then after the movie, we all (DK, me, Cara, Josh, Sanya, and my mom) headed out to our patio to set up this gazebo thing. It was TOUGH! Long story short...it took 3 1/2 hours when it should have taken 45 minutes. YEAH. But it was fun and we had some great moments. ;D Hehe---Cara picked up this T-bar or SOMETHING and after 5 SECONDS she goes, "Ouch! This is hot!!" Late reaction there honey... ;D

My mom had to like POUND this one T-bar so everyone else sat on our new rocker, LOVE IT. And we're all drinking water and just chillaxin and Cara's like, "Ewww, look what's in my water" so I glance down and I see this twiggy thing but I thought it was a bug so I FREAKED and water went everywhere...oh goodness...

After we set up this huge tent thingy on top of the gazebo (THAT took awhile) we headed inside to start making waffles. YUM. I love having breakfast for a meal other than breakfast...HAHA. And I always love making stuff one-handed, so that's what we did, we could only use one hand for the waffles. Cara kept forgetting...it was so funny!! We had a few spillage accidents...the oil and the eggs...but it was all good!!!! :D

We ate lunch at like 2:02, and it was YUMMY. But I wasn't really that hungry...BIZARRE (Rachel K with a K...woah, that sounds weird :P). Haha, and then at the end of lunch DK said, "Is anyone gonna eat this last piece of bacon?" and I THOUGHT he meant something like, "If no one's gonna take this it's just gonna go in the trash" or SOMETHING like that, so I was like, whatever, I'm not that hungry but it wouldn't kill me to have another piece of bacon, so I say I'll take it. Then everyone starts laughing and I'm like what??? And my mom's like, "...I think he wanted it for HIMSELF." Then I was like, "OOOOH!!!!" So we ended up sharing it. :P

My mom also ended up sharing our whole "church" story with Pennridge and all that...I hadn't even known half the stuff. I was 8 or 9 when it happened and didn't understand anything. Then mom started talking about Mr. Darron and I got really upset cause he passed away suddenly and I really miss that guy...but it was all good, good memories of him and it was nice of mom to share the story, almost no one understands what our family had to go through during those times.

THEN WE GOT TO GO SWIMMING!!!!

I got to wear my new suit. I love it. :] But we were all sunscreening and Cara asked for help to get her back, so I say sure and stop rubbing globs in and I'm rubbing it into the big circle (which cuts low on that suit) so I said, "Sorry if this is awkward" and she says, "Oh it's fine". But then I get to her upper back and whenever I get my shoulders and stuff I move the straps down onto my arm so I can completely get the shoulder. So I start moving the strap and she's like, "What are you doing?!??" and I go, "I'm pulling your straps down" and then DK says, "If it wasn't awkward before, let's just make it awkward now..." it was SOO funny.

The water was SOOO cold!! But it was barely tolerable if you just moved around a lot. When we first got in Sanya kept ATTACKING me and then CLINGING. Like she'd chase me for awhile, I'd let her catch me, and then she'd hug the living daylights out of me! It was kinda funny. Then Josh joined in with the "Let's get Rachel!" game and I was clobbered...

THEN, OH LITTLE MISS SANYA IS IN SOOOO MUCH TROUBLE. She told DK and Cara one of my tickle secrets!!! I'm an EXTREMELY ticklish person so even the THOUGHT of it sets me on edge. So if you just pretend like you're tickling me, not actually touching me though...I squirm. IT TICKLES. DON'T ASK ME HOW BUT IT DOES. She is in so much trouble...and then Josh told DK one of my worst tickle spots later! Those two...grr... ;D

Sanya had been laying up on the deck for awhile and then she got back in and she was HOT. Like her skin felt SOOOOO good!! I was on DK's back shaking and chattering (my teeth would not stop!) and so when she got in I ran (can you run in water?) to her and just HUGGED HER. It felt so good.

Then we all decided to get out and just lounge for awhile. We set up all our towels and stretched out. After awhile we decided to play the "Haha Game" (I dunno what it's called either Cara, but I like that name, so that's officially what it is now ;D). Cara did a pretty good job of explaining what it is so I'll just post that here:

"It's where you all lay down, and someone puts their head on your stomach, and you put your head on someone's stomach. You start out by sayinguh "Ha." Each person says that without trying to laugh. If you make it through, you go "Ha. Ha." and so on and so forth until someone laughs. The number of Has increase by one each time."

It was SOOO much fun! I love that game. :] Cara was SOOOOOOOO bad at it though...she always laughed at me, DK, and Sanya. It was great...we only got to 5 Ha's but it was amazinguh. :] :] :]

Haha!!! So we're laying on the deck and I had to ask Josh a question so I say, "Hey Buddy..." and then ask my question and after I ask Cara goes, "Wait...what did you say?" and I'm like, "Uh...Cara. You're not Buddy..." and she's like, "Huh??"/"I was talking to JOSH, I call him Buddy."/"Ooooh...you weren't talking to me? I didn't hear Buddy...hehe, yeah, I'm not your Buddy..." It was funny.

Ok, so then we go upstairs to change and Cara's in the bathroom and I'm in my room changing. And, well...GREEN. And FOUR DAYS. ;D OMWord it was hysterical...I had to get deodorant...love ya Cara. :D

Then we watched Hook cause Cara hadn't seen it and DK didn't remember a lot of it and it was something Josh and Sanya could watch too. A little ways into the movie, my mom reminded me I had to get up (which stunk...I was rather comfortable where I was) and make dinner for everyone. So relunctantly, I get up and make Ziti. I love cooking. :]

We all had dinner---Ziti, salad, and bread with oil...oh man I am ADDICTED to that oil...but I couldn't dip it right so I ended up ruining a piece of my mom's bread. :P

Then me, Cara, and DK went out to our rocker/swing thing and folded it down so it was a bed and we played UNO. It was fun cause they had to play by OUR rules, House Rules. :] :] :]

Then Sanya and DK played backgammon and he beat her...he has to play my mom next, she'll CRUSH HIM. ;D

Oh, haha, so while they were finishing up the game me and Cara went upstairs to change into our swimsuits again cause I wanted to get in one more time. So I changed in the bathroom and Cara changed in my room and she comes into the bathroom and I took my contacts out and then brushed my teeth, I love that minty flavor. :] And then I was complaining about the liner in my suit and I was messing with it and then I was like OOPS. SORRY IF I FLASHED YOU CARA.

Then outside, DK was talking trash about us. ;D We were taking awhile to change (I was showing Cara stuff...GREEN ;D), so he was like, "Girls..." and Sanya goes, "Hey!"/"Well...TEENAGE GIRLS." But then we kept getting him back during the night, it was SO funny...teenage BOYS. :P
So me and Cara head out to the deck and we're just standing there, waiting for DK, and I sigh and say, "DK's changing..." and Cara goes, "Well not really." And I just LOOK AT HER, totally confused. And she says, "Well he may have changed towards you, but not really towards us...is everything going ok with you two? Is something wrong?" And I was like, "WHAT?!" and then DK comes up on the deck and Cara sees he CHANGED INTO his swimsuit and she's like, "OOOOOH!!!! Nevermind! Wow..." it was HYSTERICAL.

Then me and Cara were holding hands about to jump into the water together. So I'm like, "Ok, here we go...1...2...3..." and I didn't jump. So we tried again, "1...2...3..." No jump. "1...2..." AND THEN I JUMPED ON TWO!!! Haha! Cara freaked out and let go and didn't jump in with me. :( Hehe, it was funny.

And the water was warmer than it was at 3:00!!! It was WEIRD. But fun. And then we had sides of the pool, and I got on DK's back again so his legs were hurting again and he has Bucs today (he's gone all weekend...and then I leave for Ohio Monday morning...insert very unhappy face here).

Then I got stuck in this itsy bitsy little yellow tube...and I was trying to get out and DK's like, "Push!!" which made it even funnier and my STUPID BUTT wouldn't get out!!! GAH. It's your fault Cara...those yummy brownies...and then Cara made this joke about how if Sanya had my butt it'd be scary and we got into this whole thing about how Cara thinks I have a big butt and all that...it was SOOO funny!

After that we went up and changed and I'm changing in my room again and I hear Cara laughing in the bathroom...and I'm like, ok what in the world is going on in there??? So I come out and go in and she like has her shirt half on while she's brushing her hair and spinning around trying to fix her shirt. It was HILARIOUS.

Then I played piano for Cara, and then we left. We got to Cara's house and her brother (Charlie) is in the front yard quickly pulling his shirt over his head. WHY he had his shirt off we had NO IDEA (we found out later he was wrestling with littler bro, Kevin), but it was FUNNY.

After that we took DK home, and it was nice just getting to sit with him in the car (though there was country music on in the background... ;D), he makes me happy. :] :] :]

AHMAZINGUH day...loved it loved it loved it!!!

DK's House!!! ;D

So yesterday I went to DK's house for the afternoon. He had senior pictures at the high school and then him and his mom came and picked me up around 2:43ish.

We got to his house and I decided that I wanted to teach him Backgammon...uh-oh. I realized I'm not very good at explaining games. :P So I TRIED to teach him, helped him with the first game, he WON (grr...), played again, and then I won. Yay! :] I don't usually win Backgammon that much...my little SISTER beats me! ;D

Oh, I also got to meet his Uncle Kevin. HAHA. We were in the car and DK's mom was like, "Oh and Uncle Kevin is at our house stripping wallpaper." And it was quiet for a moment and then me and DK just start CRACKING UP. And I said, "Glad you finished that sentence" and DK goes, "You should have said 'Uncle Kevin is at our house stripping........................WALLPAPER." Ahhh...it was funny. :P

Anyway, after the game got put away on the high tall game shelf that I couldn't reach, I got to see the Bucs video from Wildwood!!! WOOOO!!!! It was SOOOOO cool to watch...OMW. I bet I could watch it over and over again and never get bored cause there's just SO much and SO many people (as DK discovered... ;D)!!!

AND THEN THE GUY AT THE END! Oh my goodness...felt SO bad for him but it was HYSTERICAL. It had been raining at Wildwood so when they went on the field it was all muddy and in like the last two or three sets, he MAJORALLY falls and then tries to get back up again and then SLIPS AGAIN! But he manages to stay standing for the last set. ;D It was just SOOO funny....ahhh....

Then we decided to watch Star Wars. Now I can admit that I'm not an expert on Star Wars. I mean, I love the movies, but don't know that much about it...like the whole movie order and episode number confuses me. SO...I'll just say we watched the FIRST MOVIE. Which is like the fourth episode? Is that right? I dunno...someone correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, haha, it starts, and the words start scrolling across the screen so I started reading them but I would finish reading a line before the next one came up, so it sounded really funny. :P

We were sitting on the couch together and at the end of the movie I was leaning on him (UBER comfortable, you should try it sometime ;D), so the movie ends and neither of us want to move. So the credits scroll through and we're just sitting there and then the movie ends and goes to that static fuzz thing and we just like SAT THERE for 30/45 minutes? SOMETHING like that... :D

Then it was time for the "expanding my horizons" dinner. I had this chicken fish thing? Or fish chicken? I dunno WHAT it was...uh...talapea? Is that right? Oh well. And then I had mac 'n' cheese from the CrockPot, that was actually pretty yummy. I think I should cook MY mac 'n' cheese for the Kiles sometime. ;D Haha, there was also cherries on the table and DK's younger brother (who's actually closer to me in age, ODD) kept eating them so he had pink teeth and he kept getting food in his hair (that Krissy loves...HAHAHAHA! ;D). It was funny.

So for the whole night me and his mom and Uncle Kevin had been joking with DK about playing Yahtze with us. I LOVE Yahtze and he hates it, so I was trying to convince him to play. So he FINALLY agrees but then the game kinda went down the toilet. DK's dad and Uncle Kevin had to take apart the swingset in the backyard and Andrew (DK's little brother with the goofy grin) didn't even want to play, so the game was cancelled.

Oh! And I tried one of those Frappucino things? BLEGH. DIS-GUST-ING. Hate coffee...hate it hate it hate it... :P

So by now it's like 8:09 or something so we just decide to go in the basement and watch The Princess Bride (SUCH A GOOD MOVIE). It's getting to like the end of the movie, it's like 10:03 and my cell phone goes off. So I pick up and it's my mom and she's like, "You're STILL THERE???" it was kinda funny. The movie ended, DK's mom brought me home, and no sommersault out of the car this time. ;D

It was a really good day. :] :] :]

(P. S. Wait a sec...can you even have P. S. on a blog? Oh well...I'm still not happy with the design...picky me...so it may just go back to normal for awhile...)

Hmmm...a bomb...

So I'm thinking about making a bomb...

Me: That's it, make a bomb and kill everyone else.
DK: Now I'm scared of you
Me: You should be.
Me: ...how long do you think it'll take to make a bomb?
DK: Maybe a couple years
Me: And considering I'm a genius...
DK: sure
Me: How long?
DK: A few months maybe?
Me: Drat...what if I was a SUPER GENIUS. Could I do it in a few minutes?
DK : Do you even know how to make one?
Me: That's not important...do you think I could do it?
DK: Sure
Me: Ok...
Me: Brb...
DK: ok
(A few minutes later)
Me: I made the bomb.

Now I just have to find a place to TEST the bomb...hmm... ;D

New Design?

Ok people, we're trying a new design here. The plain white was kinda driving me insane so I'm trying something new, but I'm not sure if I totally like it...so it may just go back to plain white any second, just warning you. ;D

Father's Day (a day late...)

So yesterday was Father's Day and our family had a great time.

We went to church (of course), and then went out to eat at Ruby Tuesdays. I got broccoli and cheese soup (MMM) and then Bacon Cheese Minis, YUM. But I had a lot of snacks in Sunday School so I wasn't that hungry. So I had a bunch of food left over and our waitress comes over and asks if I want a box for the burgers (I should have those later...), so I say sure. She comes back with the box, sees that I only had half my soup and says, "Do you want a container for your soup?" And I just look up at her in surprise and say, "You can contain SOUP?" and then she and my entire family starts cracking up and she says, "Yes, I'll go get a container for your soup." It was HILARIOUS.

AND THEN...oh man...we're sitting there and I'm looking at the condensation on my glass and I ask, "Why does the glasses sweat?" and my dad immediately replies, "It's from the ice cubes." and I just look at him and he says, "You know, as the ice cubes melt they go onto the outside of the glass." so I think for a moment and then go, "OooOOOOooh! That makes sense!!" and then EVERYONE started cracking up! And I was like, "What??" and my mom says, "Well, if the ice cubes melt why doesn't the soda come out of the glass?" so then I said, "Cause the soda's soda and the ice cubes are water." and then my mom pointed to a glass of water but then I just said, "Well ice cubes are ice, it's different." Then I realized that glass is GLASS...but I mean, doesn't it make sense??? Much more sense than like temperature differences or whatever...

I was never good with science...

Catch-Up-Post

Ok, so it's time to make a huge (or not so huge, depending how well I can summarize) catch-up-post on the last few days.

Let's see here...

So Friday I slept over at Jenny's and it was AMAZING. SOOOO many good times...we were just caRAZY. It was really fun!! :] :] :]

Haha, so we were sitting at the computer and it was getting late and she turned to me and said, "Do you want to go play piano before everyone dies?" and I was just like, "What?!?" and she said, "Wait! NO! I meant before everyone GOES TO SLEEP." It was HYSTERICAL. OMW.

Let's see...highlight time:
  • Walking around the neighborhood trying to walk close enough to be able to listen to my iPod but without running into each other.
  • Jenny constantly tripping on her own flip-flop...HAHA!
  • "Sorry! I'm getting you wet with me getting dry!!!"
  • Sitting at the piano and listening to her PLAY and SING. Wooo-EEE does that girl have talent!!! She sang "Memory" for me (from Cats, LOVE THAT SHOW!) and it was just...WOW. She was really really really good. And then I had a song I had been wanting to show her but then I DIDN'T want to show her cause I mean, compared to her and that SONG, I was like...NOTHING.
  • Singing POTO. Those high notes...HAHA!!!
  • Just think of Rachel..."AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
  • Trying to get those bracelets to STAY ON. :P
  • Popping bubble wrap in the car. ;D
  • WE WERE WEARING THE SAME EXACT NAIL POLISH. SAME EXACT COLOR AND SAME EXACT BRAND. AND WE DIDN'T EVEN PLAN IT. HOW AWESOM IS THAT?
  • "Hoedown Throwdown"...SOO much fun!
  • Sousy. :] :] :]
  • "Maybe they have a concentration camp in their backyard..." :P
  • "...DID YOU CHECK THE CHILDREN?"
  • "Oh Rachel, you're smart, you'll know who this is...ever heard of (name of person who I had NO IDEA who they were...I felt like an idiot...)?"
  • MAKING PANCAKES ONE-HANDED!!! Ahhh...I love doing that. :] :] :]
  • "Ahh! I thought it was Shelby!"/"Yes of course because Shelby is wooden and shaped like a stool."
  • "I'll go take a shower in, uh...10 minutes then?"/"Sounds good." :P
  • SOOOOOOOO much more stuff....

Then Saturday after I got picked up, my whole family went down to D&JSports and bought swim suits. Lemme see if I can find mine on their online site...

http://djsports.com/productDetails.aspx?styleNumber=DPOS1A

Something like that, not exactly but it's that crazy red with the black, you get the idea. ;D

Ok, I'll write more about today tomorrow (haha!), but I'm gonna get off now to go talk to some friends about my epic somersault... :D :D :D

SOMERSAULT IN THE VAN

Ok, I promise to write about Friday night and Saturday stuff but I have a FUNNY STORY.

WOW.

SO.

DK's mom is driving us home and I had my shoes off. So we're driving down my street and we get close to my house and so I LEAN FORWARD to pick up my shoes and at the EXACT SAME TIME that I leaned forward she STOPPED the car and so I went FLYING and I LITERALLY did a SOMERSAULT IN THE VAN. So I landed upside down in the front of the car...WOW.

Remind me to never do that again... ;D

Happy Day ;D

Mmm, happy day.

Not much has been going on, laundry and more laundry, but I've been singing along to In The Heights all the day and it makes me happy, I absolutely adore the music. :]

CAN'T WAIT TO GO TO JENNY'S. (I would put ! here but there aren't enough to show how excited I am ;D)

Loved This!

So quite a few friends of mine have blogs now, and someone wrote this today and I thought it was really good so I asked for permission and they said I could share:

" "There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, and who won't anymore. So don't worry about the people in your past; there's a reason they didn't make it to your future."

But...how do we know that? How do we really know who matters? I mean, at the time it might seem like they don't matter. But you never know what's going to happen in the future. There might be a time when you realize that person does matter. But because they didn't matter at that particular moment in time, you don't have them anymore. So how do we know who to leave in the past and who to bring to the present and future? What if you bring all the wrong people? What if someone turns out to be someone totally different than what you thought? You're stuck with them. And if you get rid of someone and later in life you need them, are you just screwed? We meet new people every day. I believe that every one plays a part, no matter how minor, in our lives. Each person touches our lives somehow, and changes us either for the better or the worse."

GOOOOOOOOOD TIMES!!!!!!!

OMWord today was SOOO much fun...

Ok, I'll start at the beginning:

The PLAN was that DK would pick me up in the morning and take me to this thing for section leaders at the high school, and then me, him, and Shep were gonna go over to DK's house and watch movies or something. But the only way that would work is if we got a babysitter and it turns out that we got Cara to babysit and then it'd be rude for her to be here and us to be there so we changed the plan so that DK and Shep would come back to MY house.

So that was the plan...BUT, there was a "miscommunication", aka: DK forgot to pick me up!!

It started at 9, and Cara and I are sitting on the couch watching The Princess Bride and it got to be 8:57 and I'm like, "We're gonna be late..."

WELL, then it got to be 9:46..."Cara---he completely forgot about me."

I was so MAD. Not like REALLY mad, but just like, "How could he FORGET?" So then I started texting him and he wasn't replying and I was so confused and FINALLY he replied and was like, "...what? I'm confused..." and I was like, "Uh...you said you could drive me bolth ways?" and he was like, "Uh...really?" so it was just a huge miscommunication but it was funny. I texted Amy (who was there) and was like, "If DK is there right now he is in SOOOO much trouble."

So my neighbor gave me a ride and I got there and everyone was like, "Uh oh!" and ran out of the back room so it was just me and DK and I was like, "You FORGOT!" Aw man, it was funny...

But then we finished up filing stuff at school, then they came over to my house, Cara had already gotten lunch for Josh and Sanya and they had started Chitty Chitty Bang Bang so I got lunch for DK and Shep, and we all sat down in front of the TV to watch this 2 hour long movie.

It was kinda funny cause there were so many of us so Josh was hogging up one couch, Shep was ON THE FLOOR (with the "girl" moose... ;D), Cara was on one side of the other couch, me and Dk were sitting on the floor and Sanya was behind me on the other side of the couch that Cara was on complaining about my big head. ...did any of that make sense? Oh well. So I went upstairs and got my pillow so I could kinda slouch, well then Shep looked uncomfortable so I offered him the pillow, he didn't want it, so Josh took it. So then I went upstairs and got my big red fuzzy blanket, which then Sanya wanted. THEN I got my big tan fuzzy blanket, so it took me awhile to get settled down for the movie. :P

Plus, I totally tripped down the stairs and sprawled out on the floor in front of everyone...LOVELY.

It was nice to just sit and relax and not really have to worry about anything, just enjoy the movie and get to spend some close time with DK. He makes me happy. :] :] :]

Then we all played Life, IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.

Sanya married DK again. ;D And it got SOOO complicated cause SHE was married to HIM and SHE had twins, but HE wasn't married to HER yet...SOOO...haha!

Ok, well, I could go on and on but I'll just share the highlights now:

  • Nice and fresh!
  • Cara married Mr. Grumpy
  • I don't speak cat!
  • Cara your dad doesn't approve...
  • Josh married Padme, and had a boy and a girl...guess what he named them. ;D
  • I got a free sports car!
  • "She breaks everything! She might even break the law!"-Sanya
  • She flight attended herself! ;D
  • Cara was in the bathroom...we were hiding on the stairs...HAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!
  • And so much more... :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I had an AMAZING day (even with DK forgetting me... ;D), and tomorrow is gonna be AWESOM. I CAN'T WAIT. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW EXCITED I AM. I AM PREPARED TO NOT SLEEP AT ALL. WOOT WOOT!!!! :]

Funny story time!

Haha! Funny story time.

So me, Josh, and Sanya are all piled on the couch (they're all laying ON me!) and just talking and laughing and then Sanya started rubbing my back (MMM! back rubs and foot rubs...oh man...) and usually she lifts up my T-shirt so it's just my cami so it's a smoother surface? I have no idea. But anyway, she went to lift up my shirt (I wasn't wearing a cami today) and I guess she wasn't looking so she was still rolling up my shirt and I was like, "SANYA!" and she looked down and was like, "AHHHH!!!!" and threw my shirt back down. Ok, it was funny. :P
And then I just started dinner, I put the water on for mac 'n' cheese (THE BEST MAC 'N' CHEESE DK) and she followed me into the kitchen and started to say something but then interrupted herself (she gets that from me...) and said, "Woah! I like your hair Rachel! It looks good!!" and I just looked at her and I was like, "Sanya---I got it cut last NIGHT." And she says, "Well you had it up then." And I look at her again and say, "Sanya, you've been home with me ALL DAY and it's been down." And she just kinda shrugs and says, "I guess I haven't been looking at your face then" so then I go, "My own sister won't look at my face!!" and she gets all defensive and was like, "No no no! That's not what I meant Rachel! No! Ahh! I LOVE YOU!!!" it was SOOO funny.
And then Josh, from the other room (he's still on the couch) says, "It doesn't even look DIFFERENT." And I go, "BUDDY---I got like four inches off! It used to be THIS LONG!!" and he just shrugs. Ahh...good times...

My iPod battery is gonna die soon...

I am having too much fun singing along to the In the Heights soundtrack. ;D

Reminiscing!

So this morning I am reminiscing and it's rather fun.

I was thinking about stuff that's happened at lunches, funny inside jokes, the turkey Cara posted on Mr. R's wall, and then the turkey made me think of chicken for some reason. And chicken made me think of, "...just FAT!" So now I'm remembering all the videos we made, the fat chickens and the marshmellow fights, the marshmellow...uh, incident with my shirt (SO GLAD YOU DELETED THAT ONE), Mr. and Mrs. Cluck, and then when they were cheating on the moose! OMWORD DO YOU REMEMBER THAT?? And the lamp fell over? HAHAHAHAHA!!! You were like freaking out and I was on the bed thinking, "What in the WORLD is she DOING???"
Oh goodness...and then the hobo stuff! Remember? And you were Stephenie Meyers or something and I was the hobo and I tried to steal your necklace or something...WOW.

And then the cookies with only one hand! THAT was epic!

Oh wow...REALLLYYYYYY going back in time now...the basement...you not catching me...doing that one dance OVER AND OVER and I was THIS close to mooing (or I was mooing...can't remember)...

AND THEN IN THE POOL!!! The Orlando Bloom thing with Casey!

I could go ON and ON and OOOONNNNNN....wow, so many good times...eating those bagel things...MMM MMM. Trying to figure out how to cook bacon...oh dear.

THE FIRE IN YOUR BROTHER'S ROOM THAT GAVE US BOTH HEART ATTACKS!

Walking around the neighborhood...remember that bull horn that scared us half to death? The bike rides...

THE CREEK.

WARRIOR CATS.

Oh wow...I really can go on forever...but I'll stop now, cause I'm hungry and I want some breakfast. ;D

LOVE YA!!! :]

HAIR CUT!!!

Aaaaaahhhhh....I FINALLY got my hair cut...for WEEKS I have been waiting for this...the ends were HARRIBLE and it was just getting too long for summer, it was HOT.

So I got it ALL chopped off...it's like right near my chin. JUST KIDDING. HAH. I got like 2 or 3 inches off, so it is a lot shorter, just not THAT short. And I got my bangs cut again, WOO! So happy...my pony tail is itsy bitsy though, it's kinda funny.

Interesting Morning

This morning was interesting...

Got to talk to Cara about some stuff, which was really WELL. ;D

Then got to talk to DK about some stuff that I'd been worrying about, so that was a really good conversation. You know what's funny? He commented on the fact that I don't write that much about "us" in the blog, which is true but funny since he's such a big part of my life now. So I guess I'll share a little from yesterday:

So after school yesterday my dad picked me, DK (we lost him...HAHA!), Shep, and Cara up and they came over to my house. We watched a "Mad About You" episode, ate lunch outside, played badminton (I did not CHEAT Shep---he's all upset cause I beat him every time ;D), I broke a raquet, came inside, watched "What's Up Doc?", laughed hysterically, and then we left. Haha! We had to take Cara home and my dad drove her to Alice's house! I was like, "Uh...dad? Wrong house", so that was funny. Then me, DK, and Shep went to Jamessssssss partay. Everyone was SQUASHED downstairs in the basement for awhile and then we went outside and played...you'll never guess...BADMINTON!!!! Haha! We had teams of three so it was me, Shep, and DK and we DOMINATED. It was so much fun. Then the teams switched up and Ewic got a huge rake and it was SOOO funny! Then we did one-on-one and I beat Molly, DK, AND Shep. Needless to say my badminton muscles are hurting today... ;D

Then me and DK headed inside and played Guitar Hero with some people for awhile, trying to see who could get the better score. Even though he was on Medium and I was on Hard...totally fair there...AND I had the stinky guitar... ;D

Then EVERYONE came down into the basement and it was SQUASHED for awhile. There were only two couches and one chair. And one of the couches only could fit like two people and only like four on the other and there were a lot of people there, so THAT was fun. :P

But then some people left to go make s'mores or something and so me and DK took the smaller couch and just sat together and watched Leslie (SO GOOD) and Shep (SO AMAZING) and Jake (...meh ;D) play Rock Band. They'd get stuck on a song and do it like 6 times until they got it right! It was funny to watch. Haha, and when Leslie was on drums I like the green one for her and then she switched to Bass and she was sitting near my feet so when she had a long note I whammied it with my foot. I am quite talented. ;D

AND THEN I FELL ASLEEP. AT A PARTAY. I was lying on DK's lap cause I was kinda tired, and the next thing I knew there was this huge BOOM from the TV (they were playing Halo) and EVERYONE was in the basement! I was like, "Whoa! When'd everyone get here?" It was only like a 20 minute nap, but it was nice, DK's a comfy pillow. ;D

So I stretched a little and laid back down again, drifting in and out of conciousness and the next thing I knew Matt was like shaking his butt in my face! I have to admit...it was kinda funny. They were playing Truth or Dare and so I guess someone dared him to do that or something.

Overall, it was a very good night. :] :] :]

First Day of Summer

Ugh...I have been so OUT OF IT lately...I dunno what's going on...

Cara, you are TOTALLY right, I've been hArrible, and I can't even figure out why. And about the next thing, I SORTA saw it...you know what I'm talking about.

First day of summer and I had to set my alarm...WOOT. Well, I have to babysit Josh and Sanya so Mom said I had to be up before them, which means waking up at 8.

I like COLLAPSED when I got home last night...and you know what stinks about having a blog and KNOWING that others are gonna read it? You stop yourself from writing down some thoughts that REALLY need to get out.

Yeah, I dunno Cara, so confused right now. I think it had something to do with that WEEK but...I mean, it was BAD. I'm gonna email you.

(I'll talk to you when you get home Elmo.)

Plans for today? Cleaning. Vacuuming my room, organizing my clothes, and cleaning my side room (HAHA! SIDE ROOM! ;D). Then...MAYBE if I'm feeling adventurous I'll start some summer packets...you know, I always want to get those things done early, but it almost NEVER happens. So...we'll see. :P

Gotta go eat some breakfast soon...oh man, I'm so tired...

Three Conversations

I've had three ongoing conversations tonight...

One has been great, maybe the topics are nicht so happy but it just feels good to have someone that listens and I can really talk things through with and understands.

The other two? Yeah...fun stuff.

Apostraphe...

Mmm...I had an apostraphe tonight...

Stuff to think about, hope I can talk to you tomorrow. :]

GRADUATION

Wow...tonight was a STRESSFUL night. I was NOT in a good mood when I left the house to go to graduation...NOT. AT. ALL.

So I got there LATE and I walked into the band room with Sam, and she saw that I was kinda stressed and she asked, "If everything ok, honey?" and I just almost broke down right there. Holy pumpernickle bread. You know...it really stinks being short sometimes, you have ALL these crazy raging hormones in such a TINY BODY. So they go even CRAZIER.

Anyway...I got my stuff, we walked down, warmed up, and then I went to the bathroom with her (such girls... ;D) and talked to her about stuff. So that was good...kinda got it all out of my system.

Oh! And I made chocolate chip cookies this afternoon and gave like...7/8 of them to Mr. O. (it's his birthday) and the rest to DK.

So the ceremony starts, and just keeps going and going and going...it would not STOP. For the love of carbs...

But when it DID end it was a very happy occasion. We stacked stands (more complicated than it sounds...) got all our stuff together and then charged into the mass sea of people, dodging children and people with cameras. It was HECTIC.

Put everything away, had some cookies, and gave a TON of hugs. It was a really fun time.

I am in a MUCH better mood now, happy night. :] :] :]

Sidenote: surprised my dad didn't notice MY smile...haha! ;D

PUMPERNICKLE BREAD!! ;D

It worked for me Jenny...

You are You

You know what I've been thinking about lately? Individuals and how everyone's so unique and special in their own way, even if they can't see it.

Everyone is who they are...you are YOU. It doesn't make a difference if you're a happy person or more often a sad person. It doesn't make a difference if you're "better" or "worse" than the other people around you. It doesn't matter if you can do more or less or aren't as skilled in certain areas where others are.

EVERYBODY is a thought of God. Everyone's unique.

Just thoughts.

Second To Last Day of School...

Wow...school's almost done. Holy toledo. I am SO ready for the work part of school to be OVA but I L O V E seeing my friends everyday...David Kile, Cara, Shep, Dr. Park, Jess, Alice, Becca, Moly, James, Zane, Andre, Kevin, Chen, Cody, Trolley, Amy, Rich, Neiman, Havard, the Omniscient, Amanda, Jake, Gina, Taylor, Katie, Katy, Kyle, Raj, Anand, Ian, Chris, Brady, Gracie, Lindsay, Alyssa, Becca S, Courtney, Colleen, Jules, Brynn, Danielle, Ryan, Alexa, Alexis, Ally, Aly, Amelia, Jen, Liz, nice Botti, Julia, Lexie, Ewic, Sam, Caroline, Chandler, Amanda R, Nick, Nick (different Nick), Emily, Gillian, Carlos, Obie, Dan, Jamie, JP, Steve, Kyle (different Kyle), Soo-Jin, Meaghan, Jimmy, Micah, Micah (other Micah), Luc, and the list goes on and on!!!! Ah man...SOOOO many good times...

So yesterday I took my German final and it was the EXACT SAME THING as the review packet we did, so I think I did really well. Then I took my band final today, got a 97% (woot!), and also took my science final which was SOOO easy! I was so worried about it but it turned out to be ok! DK wins again... ;D

Now I just have math (STUDYING THIS WEEKEND) and English (ehh...not too bad) on Monday, and then it's DONE.

After school Monday DK, Shep, and Cara (hopefully!) are coming over, we're gonna have a movie day. :D :D :D I'm thinking about showing them What's Up Doc? and Bolt and maybe something else...the movies have to be 'kid appropriate' cause Josh and Sanya are gonna be home. And then that night...well, er, at like 4 (is that night or afternoon???) we have a PARTAY at Jamessssssssssssssssssssss house until 11, so that will be EPIC fun!

So what to do with the rest of my day...well, gonna go and talk to some friends for a little bit, then I'm gonna start laundry, maybe sweep a little downstairs and do some dusting, make lunch for me and Josh and Sanya, curl hair (maybe??? I dunno...), and then go to graduation tonight! If it's outside the band's playing but if not, then we don't play at all. I wonder if we can still go or if we had to buy a ticket ahead of time...hmm...well I REALLY wanna go, I have so many friends who are seniors. OH MAN I'M GONNA MISS THOSE GUYS. *moment of silence* I better not cry tonight...SHEESH. But knowing emotional me and especially this week (cramps...*cough cough*) I might as well bring some tissues...

Oh! And me and Lindsay and Gracie and Danielle made plans today---over the summer they're all coming over to my house and we're gonna go swimming and then we're gonna make T-shirts that say:

MARCHING BAND!!!!

Marching band starts tonight! I am SO excited!!! You have NO IDEA. AHHHHHHHH.

*bounces up and down*

We are gonna have a BUTT-KICKING brass section, BOOYAH!!!!

AND I CAN'T WAIT TO MARCH AGAIN!

AND I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE SHOW IS. IT IS KILLING ME.

Oh, and we got Larry and Steve. ;D

Hysterical Presentation!

So today in Comparitive Government, me, Jess, and Cali had to present our PowerPoint on Bill Clinton.

We were doing pretty good...until Cali started going FAST. She was just reading and reading off the slide, and she made a SLIGHT mistake...instead of reading, "Arkansas", she pronounced it as, "Are-KANSAS"! OMWORD IT WAS THE FUNNIEST THING! So the ENTIRE class is cracking up and I'm up in the front of the room trying my HARDEST not to have a laughing fit.

Ahhh, goodness...and THEN, I went...I was doing pretty well, but then I got to the word "specifics" and I just COULDN'T remember how to say it! So it came out as, "spekisfishtklcisjkel;kjlkdjslics" (and yes, there was a ; in there! ;D). Then everyone was laughing and I got flustered and I went to talk about his schooling...how he went to YALE. Well...I ACCIDENTALLY said, "At YA'LL LAW SCHOOL." The entire class BURSTED OUT LAUGHING. AHHH...embarrassment galore...I have to admit though, it was rather hysterical. :]

New Moon Trailer!!

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=58185785

I like it. :]

Laurent's EYES. OMW.

And Jacob's...JACOB. AHHH.

Roller Coaster Night...

Ugh...it's been a roller coaster of emotions tonight. I am sitting here right now with a box of half-used tissues...LOVELY.

We had to rush dinner tonight cause Josh and Sanya had a dentist appointment so THAT got stressful (my family is nicht so gut at rushing things), then I was very blah all night, didn't vacuum my bed (whoops...I'm on the couch again tonight, but it's ok), started watching The Notebook, during the commercials Dad brought up something about how I was invited to this National Leadership thing in Washington D.C. but it's during marching band and I'd miss a lot but he thinks I should go and I got all upset and defensive about marching band and the whole committment thing so it turned into this 'heated discussion' about how I should be thinking about college and expand more than just music and how it shouldn't be a big deal and wondering if marching band's really worth it then which got me REALLY ticked and then the movie ended and the end of the movie ALWAYS makes me SOB. I am not kidding...tears STREAMING down my face...

So that's the quick summary of tonight...I'm a wreck.

My life is pretty much all about school right now...grades grades grades, resume resume resume...fun stuff...

I can't believe I'm gonna say this...but I CAN'T wait for school tomorrow, take my mind off of things and I can never be unhappy around my friends.

Lanae Hale!!!

I was looking up some devotions online, and I found a really good article about a new artist named Lanae Hale who struggled with cutting and self-worth...

http://www.christianitytoday.com/iyf/music/bandsartists/ifeltworthless.html

I looked up some of her lyrics and I found some that I really like (read them all, they're really good):

"Love Is Worth The Fight"
Oxygen deprivation my face is turning blue
Choking on tasteless sentiments and isolated views
Yeah city lights they're blurring past
Another nameless state-line at your back
Another day is another year
You're having fun but still wanna hear

Everybody needs love sweet love
Open arms to hold when the times get tough
A special soul to share in the joy of life
Yeah, love is worth the fight

La dah dah dah dah dah dah dah

Radio burning holes in every speaker door
Yeah the louder played it numbs away
Whatever you keep running for
It may take some time to recognize
There's no home in the car you drive
And baby that's no way to live
You're getting old and you can feel it

"Beautiful Things"
Work my fingers to the bones
Learn to live to forget and let go
Sometimes the faces of the past come back
It gets easy to ignore
When hope has been restored

So now I, I can sing in the rain
I can love without pain
I can live everyday
With these beautiful, beautiful things
Finally feel my heart beating
Let my lungs breathe deeply
All my tears turned to dreams
Of beautiful, beautiful things

Temptation holds the key
To what you think you want or need
Well it takes a stronger man to stand
And learn from the past
But never let go

Regretful heartbreaks
Well it shatters the soul
But after tearful mistakes
A mournful heart may grow
And then let go

"Here's My Heart"
Hear the notes they're ringing
Through the air I'm breathing
I think I've heard this song before
In my head, in my head
Feel the room it's swaying
Slowly dancing with me
I fall asleep to the words
In my head, in my head

Sweet redemption find me
Hold me, keep me, blind me
With the truth of your love
In my head, in my head
Lead me to the still steams
Where my heart breaks then bleeds
Then let peace heal the wounds
In my head

Here's my heart, here's my heart
Search every part
And know me well and change me deeply
Here's my heart, it's dying to start
Clear all the dark broken pieces and
Make me whole again

Feel the sun it's rising
Gently, warmly finding
My soul whispering the words
In my head, in my head
Slowly stir from dreaming
My heart joins in this singing
Loud and deep calling out
In my head

One step, then another
Shatter all I am to bring me closer to you

"Start Over"
Shoulders shrugged and heads help high it's a cold cold world
But you sure fit in fine
Seems to me conviction has died
Well it's easy to do
Shoulders shrugged and head down,
It's a cold cold world,
But you sure fit in fine
Seems to me conviction
Well it is easy to do
When love is pushed aside
But life holds no guarantees
So make sure you're who you want to be

Let the rain take it's toll
Let it downpour on my soul
When passions gone
Start over
Let the wind blow and break
Down all of my mistakes
When love is lost
Start over...
Start over

Lately life and chaos
Go hand and hand
Well it's hard to ignore security
And future plans
So you try to fit in or find your way
Ya gain the whole world
But sadly lose your faith
Life holds no guarantees

So make sure you're who you want to be

"Start Over"
It seems so long ago but the memories never die
Sometimes they burn holes inside
Of the back of my mind
Uncovering the faces of those
Loved and lost on the way
And sadly only strangers
Now remain, in their place

So would you stay
Could you please stay with me
Stay would you please
Stay with me

Sometimes a warm heart may stay for awhile
Hoping it's forever like an innocent child
But every story has an ending
And that's the way that it goes
But your adventure is still waiting
Even if ya have to go alone

"Back and Forth"
Well, it's easier to take
When it's easy not to break
But set the enemy on fire
And feel the flames grow higher and higher and higher

If I could, than I would run across the sea
So you'd speak to me
Back and forth, the waves keep crashing
Hold on, my head, I keep on sinking
I need your hand to steady me
To bring your peace to this storm
'Cause back and forth
Yeah, oh, oh

Well, it's easy not to care,
When apathy poisons the air
Well, on the surface it seems calm
But underneath war rages on and on and on

You are rain falling hard on my shoulders,
I lift my head, and don't let go
Feel the tide growing high as I get older,
I lift my head and don't let go
Feel the waves rolling over and over,
I lift my head and i don't let go'
'Cause you're my light when the dark gets colder,
So take my hand and don't let go
Don't let go-oh

"Quiet Place"
Silent war is declared vision fails
When the soul's impaired
Noises numb the mind and
Love grows cold with time
If nothing fills the empty hole
That every human heart knows

I will wait for you
Till fire burns, earthquakes, and waves are few
Cause silence, is where you like to stay
So here I am, I'm waiting for you
In this quiet place

Running hard to ignore
The lonely places you've been before
But you feel time is slipping
And there's still so much you're missing
And to heal means tears must show
But you're not weak to just let go

I believe
I'm in need
So dear sweet Savior
Come rescue me
From this quiet place

DK's Famous Quote!

"People should stop worrying about what others are good at and work hard to pursue their own greatness."

It's on the blog now, so it's OFFICIALLY famous. ;D

Seniority

I just talked to Sam on the phone for like 30 minutes and she made me feel a lot better. She told me that she IS mad about it, but not mad at me, mad about the situation. Seniority is a huge thing so a s'more beating a senior is like...unheard of. We talked about some other stuff too, it was a great conversation.

So...yay! :]

???...

Well, I got band secretary. Which is good...I mean, I'm happy that people think I can do it. But...Matt IS older, he's gonna be a senior...doesn't HE deserve it? Well...isn't it more rightfully his, not mine? Will people be mad at me cause I'll just be a s'more?? :(

"Listen"

I LOEV this songa! It's from DreamGirls, and it is SO good!

"Listen" by Beyonce
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtXndjVP2k4)
Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start but can't complete
Listen to the sound from deep within
Its only beginning to find release
Ohh the time has come for my dreams to be heard
They will not be pushed aside and turned
Into your own, all 'cause you won't listen

[Chorus]
Listen
I am alone at a crossroads
I'm not at home in my own home
And I've tried and tried
To say what's on my mind
You should have known
Now I'm done believing you
You don't know what I'm feeling
I'm more than what
You've made of me
I followed the voice, you gave to me
But now I've gotta find my own
You should have listened

There was someone here inside
Someone I thought had died
So long ago
Oh I'm screaming out
And my dreams will be heard
They will not be pushed
Aside or turned
Into your own
All 'cause you won't listen

[Chorus]

I don't know where I belong
But I'll be moving on
If you don't, if you won't
Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start, but I will complete
Now I am done believing you
You don't know not what I am feeling
I'm more than what you've made of me
I followed the voice you think you gave to me
But now I got to find my own - my own

Good times...

"1 and 2 and..."

"ACHOO!!!!"

"...and four and..."

SHE SNEEZED IN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

OMWORD...so great... :] :] :]

Random Time!!!

Well I have awhile before we have to head out for church, and I'm bored, so...random time!!

if God brought me to it
...He will bring me through it .

If you live to be a hundred years old...I want to live to be ninety-nine so I don't have to live one day without you.

an average person laughs 15
times in a single day...
so let's just say that
I'M NOT AVERAGE.

LOVE
is more than just a word...

mUsic*
screams the words
we are afraid to speak.

A life of marching band is a life of joy!
Live for the friends, live for the bus rides, and live for those 8 minutes in your life that exhilarate you, obsess you, and make you come ALIVE!
Go ahead, call me a band geek! You go ahead and try it, focused all the time on one end goal and not giving up until you’ve reached it…PERFECTION…you stand still for hours at a time, feeling the sweat on your face run off your nose with only one thought in mind…FOCUS…you go through everything together as a team until you reach your breaking point. You keep pushing yourself and your team forward until you reach your goal. You walk onto the field, a quick moment of silence, and then you’re thrown head-first into the swirling chaos of music and movement. You finish the show. You hear everyone gasping for breath around you and smile to yourself. “We did it!” You feel the connection with each and every person…COMRADARIE…this is your life. This is PERFECTION. This is FOCUS. This is COMRADARIE.
This is…MARCHING BAND!

He died for me...I live for Him.

Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.

Love is a verb.

I live for the days I can't remember with the friends I'll never forget.

Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.

"To love another person is to see the face of God."

"If you judge people, you have no time to love them."

Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die tomorrow.

How To Maintain A Healthy Level of Insanity

1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.
2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice!
3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.
4. Put decaf in the coffee maker for three weeks. Once everyone has gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.
5. In the memo field of all your checks, write 'For Elmo'.
6. Finish all your sentences with 'in accordance with the prophesy'.
7. Skip down the hall rather than walk and see how many looks you get.
8. Order a Diet Water whenever you go out to eat, with a serious face.
9. Specify that your drive-through order is 'To Go'.
10. Sing along at the opera.
11. Put mosquito netting around your work area and play tropical sounds all day.
12. Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you have a headache.
13. When the money comes out of the ATM, scream 'I won! I won!'
14 . When leaving the zoo, start running towards th eparking lot, yelling 'Run for your lives! They're loose!!!'
15. Tell your children over dinner, 'Due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go.'

His name is Declan Galbraith, the song is called "Tell Me Why".

Quotes and Stuff

I was sorting through some quotes I have and found some that I thought I'd post for some of my friends who are going through a tough time:

Life is about who you love and who you hurt. It’s about how you feel about yourself. It’s about trust, happiness, and compassion. It’s about sticking up for your friends and replacing inner hate with love. Life is about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance, and building confidence. It’s about what you say and what you mean. It’s about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. It is about choosing to use your life to touch someone else’s in a way that never could have been achieved otherwise.

Don't waste your time on someone who isn't willing to waste their time on you.

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.

You’ll never leave where you are until you decide where you’d rather be.

It’s not about being who everyone else wants you to be, it’s about being yourself and finding someone who loves every part of it.

Some say holding on is what makes you strong. But sometimes it takes much more strength just to let go and move on.

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those that matter don't mind.”-Dr. Seuss

“I try so hard but I always fall short. So I’ve faced the truth of my weakness. There’s nothing good that I can bring forth, but I stand in the strength of Your presence. I’ve wasted time always trying to face things alone, but I wait here now and I lay it all down.”

“In times of brokenness You always show the depth of love that You bring me. I'm kneeling down in Your presence I know. Your source of life I'm receiving. I place myself in Your arms that will always lead me. And I won't let go cause there's nowhere else to go.”

“This rock is tied around my ankle. This thorn is buried in my skin. I wonder why I have to struggle. But then again…if I wasn't drowning I wouldn't need you to save me and if I wasn't broken I wouldn't need you to heal me.”

Good Analogy!!!

I actually made a good analogy yesterday! I was talking with someone about the pain and hurt that we've gone through, and how I've been healed---not by friends (though they helped), but by God:

"Who do you have to heal you? God. DK isn't the one who put me back together, he's not the one who healed my pain. He certainly helped, being supportive and listening to me and caring, but he's not the one who mended my hurt. Think of it this way (analogy time, I've been bad at these lately, I hope this works):

I'm lying in a hospital bed, my body broken, bruised, and bleeding. I was just in a car accident, and there's little chance of me surviving. Sitting next to my bed is David Kile, comforting the best he can, whispering words of encouragement and holding my hand. He makes a joke, trying to lighten my mood, and I give a little smile. His words soothe me, but they can do nothing for my broken body. The door opens and the surgeon comes in and snaps on a pair of gloves. He pulls over a chair and looks deep into my eyes, "I'm here to help you Rachel, I have the power to make you better, I just need you to trust me. Can you do that?" I nod weakly.
After the surgery, I feel much better. Still weak and fragile, I'll need time to recover, but I've gotten through the worst. I glance down at the scars, no longer feeling any pain.
I've been healed.

The surgeon was God. He was the one who healed me, I had to completely trust Him, believe that He knew what He was doing, He could see the bigger plan in all of this."

Forgiveness

Well me and Shep are talking now (continuing a conversation from before) and it's actually going pretty good, er...WELL. ;D

Tonight's gotten better...I've actually been having some pretty good email conversations lately, and it's really made me think. My thoughts tonight were mostly about forgiveness...just a bunch of random stuff. Here's the email I sent:

"I've been thinking about forgiveness a lot, because of this situation and also with reading through "The Shack", so I thought I would share some thoughts.

Forewarning: these are THOUGHTS, I'm not trying to preach or tell you what to do, I need you to understand that before reading this.

I think it's important for everyone to forgive those who have hurt them. I know a lot of times people want to make the other person feel the same hurt they've experienced, they want them to be punished. So the thought of forgiving that person is immediately pushed aside because forgiveness is often paired with forgetting. But forgiveness isn't about forgetting, it's about letting go of the person's throat, letting go of that desire to hurt them.

Forgiveness also isn't about becoming buddy-buddy with someone. Forgiveness does not establish relationship. Unless people admit to what they have done and change their minds and behavior, a relationship of trust is not possible. Forgiving someone is about releasing them from judgement, but without true change, a relationship is impossible.

Forgiveness is an incredible power that we share with God. Jesus gives us the ability to forgive others because he first forgave us.

I think forgiveness is mostly for the forgiver, it releases you from the pain that will destroy you. Without forgiveness, the pain will destroy joy and your ability to love fully and openly. When you choose to forgive someone else, you're loving them as well. And even though you may not love the person or even WANT to love the person, God loves them. We have to be able to understand that there is more power in love and forgiveness than in hate. Forgiveness doesn't require anyone to pretend that what that certain person did never happened.

I think one of the hardest parts about forgiving for me is that I feel like if I forgive, then I'm letting the person off the hook, what they did is excused. But...I've realized that forgiveness does not excuse anything. But it's not my place to judge whoever it is. We judge because we feel as if we're somehow better than the other person, we're above them and that gives us the right to judge. Well, that's wrong. God created us all equal. God handles judgement, not us.

After forgiveness, it's still ok to be angry. What some people have done in our lives is terrible and has caused us a lot of pain. And because of the pain we feel angry, it's how we respond. But letting the anger and pain and hurt we feel stop us from forgiving others...that's not right."

Frustrations...

Well, I made it through the day. Huzzah.

I was having a GREAT day, ok, well great considering all the tests and everything, and then Shep just goes and ruins it...

He FINALLY knows, FINALLY. How long have the three of us been talking about it? Me and Cara at least a few weeks, maybe a month, and with DK at least a week or two. Last night we semi talked to him about it but it wasn't our place, so we kept our mouths shut, but she told him today so he knows now and he won't talk about it!!

Ok, things are better than from the time I started this post, but I'm still kinda frustrated...

Sometimes (and DK mentioned this) it seems like we have to be annoyed at him before he'll talk to us. He has to be talking to us as a service for US rather than because it might help HIM.

I also guess part of me being so upset over this---I think I'm probably making a bigger deal out of it than it is---is that I've gotten used to a standard with DK, how I talk to him, how he talks to me, just the communication. And it's different with Shep, and sometimes it's hard to remember that DK is the one that will talk to me no matter what, all the time, whenever I need him, and Shep needs some more coaxing, not much of the talker, and would rather ask questions than talk about himself. I guess me and DK get each other more, I'm still trying to figure out Shep sometimes.

Let's see...

Let's see how much stuff I have to do today...
  • German presentation
  • Math test
  • Science test
  • Second half of Health Final Exam
  • Biography speech presentation in English
  • Write a 2-page paper about Bill Clinton
...YEAH. Not fun...at least it's the end of the week. :]

Quick Answer

And in answer to your question Jenny, yes. :]

Leadership Seminars

So last night was our second night of leadership seminars for marching band, they are SO much fun!! I've been learning SO much and having such a great time with everyone...it's been AWESOM.

Last night we did an activity where we each took turns leading the rest of the group. We headed down to the lot (then Mr. O. had us run all the way back up the hill to the band room and sprint back down again, that was kinda fun actually), and set up a 3 x 3 block. Then there was like 3 people just sitting to the side, observing and taking notes, and then there was the leader. Each leader got a set of about 5 directions that they had to have their group. For example, one set could be: BW4, FW6, LF, FW8, halt. That would actually be one of the easier ones. And the leader got 4 minutes to teach the entire group the set. It was a lot of fun!! I marched in the block for awhile (I didn't really want to volunteer, I still haven't completely gotten my voice back and I'll admit, I was NERVOUS), and then Mr. O. had the new peeps go. It was actually kinda fun to lead, stressful trying to remember all those tips that he had given previous people and having to teach in a time constraint, but still, it was fun, I had a great time with it.

Then we did another trust activity, we had to pair up with a partner, I went with Becca, and one of us had to be blindfolded, and the other person had the job of leading their partner (without touching them) to discover things that they wouldn't notice normally, like with sight. So Becca was blindfolded, and I took her around to different objects just to feel the textures. She felt two different kinds of mulches and just by touching she could figure out which one was newer. And then I had her measure the bench (oh, we were outside BTW) with her hands and see what the width and depth was. Then we had a run-in with another group. Havard was leading and Ewik was blindfolded. So I was like, "Ok, Becca, you're gonna run into someone, who is it??" So they hugged each other and she reached up and felt his hair (which is very spiky) and she's like, "Ewik!!!!!" It was funny.

Then we switched partners and I was with Sam. She had me take my shoes off and then we just walked around, experiencing the different textures that I would NEVER have noticed with my shoes on. It was SO cool!! And it was also kinda fun to completely trust her, I know I didn't have to worry that she would let me run into something, so I just trusted. And it was a REALLY neat experience.

We also got the forms last night to fill out, saying why we want to be a student leader and all that good stuff. I really wanted to hand it in first thing this morning, but last night I was talking to people and then I realized that I wanted to do a really great job and not rush it, so I'll hand it in tomorrow.

School time!!
