DETENTION (Part II)

Going into detention, I figured I could either walk in being completely vulnerable and awkward and stick out like a sore thumb...OR I could walk in pretending I had been there before. I went with the second option...haha. Partly to make myself laugh and get through the detention and partly cause I was honestly freaked out of my mind that I'd be harrassed if I looked 'weak'.

So I walked in...didn't avoid eye contact with people (aka kinda glared), took my seat, and pulled out homework. The teacher had us all signed in, stated the rules that we can't talk or have any electronic device out or nap. And then...time started.

After about fifteen minutes of just doing my homework I glanced around and realized EVERYONE ELSE WAS JUST SITTING THERE. I also realized that there was a boy sitting next to me STARING at me. And not one of those stares where you look at them and they quick look away...oh no...he just kept staring. UNCOMFORTABLE.

In the course of the next forty-five minutes, one kid has his phone taken away, another got kicked out, and another got his iPod taken away. That conversation went something like this:

*silence*
*teacher clears throat*
*everyone looks up*
iPod Kid: What?
Teacher: What do you mean 'what?'??
iPod Kid: Yeah what???
Teacher: You have your phone out.
iPod Kid: Well that's ONE thing you got wrong, it's not a phone!! It's an iPOD!
Teacher: Bring it up and put it on the desk.
*kid shuffles up while having a spaz attack and cursing continually under his breath*

Ridiculous...oh and there was another time when the teacher threatened to keep up until four and a girl like pooped her pants and had a heart attack all at the same time, screaming that she would get lawyers involved cause her pink detention slip said it ended at 3:40 and it would be unlawful for the teacher to hold them past that time...sigh. Craziness.

So that was my detention.

I left without having obtained any of the following characteristics: drunk, high, pregnant, goth, tattooed, or cheerleader. ;D

DETENTION (Part I)

Yes, it's true.

The goody-goody-follow-(almost)-every-rule Rachel had a detention yesterday after school.

Here's the story:

On February 7th, I was absent cause of cramps (WORST CRAMPS OF MY LIFE). According to our school policy, we have three days to bring in an excuse note and if we don't it becomes an unlawful absence. Mom kept forgetting to write me a note and I kept forgetting to remind her so it got to be the third day and I got a pass to go see Mrs. Sconia, the attendance lady. I went down and asked her if I would be excused if I had my mom called the school and she told me that if my mom could call by 3:00 that afternoon, I'd be totally fine. So I rushed to the office, called mom, and left a message. I got home that day and mom told me she had called so I thought everything was okie dokie.

APPARENTLY NOT.

The next week I got called down to the Dean's Office. I went in, sat down, and the dean said, "We have it on our record that you were absent on the 7th and never brought in a note." I told him that was correct but that I had been told by Mrs. Sconia that if my mom called that day I'd be excused, and my mom was able to call. He said that there was no record of her calling and no way to prove it and since I hadn't brought in an actual note I would get a detention. I tried to explain again that I was told I DIDN'T need a note...I only needed my mom to call. He apologized for the miscommunication but said that I still had detention and had to choose when I would serve it...I chose the 24th.

I gots to go right now...I'll tell the story of my experience in detention later. CLIFFHANGER!

New favorite joke!

"What do an eagle and a mole have in common?"
"I dunno...what?"
"They both live underground.
...except the eagle."

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I love it!!!!

Moments of the Night

Me: Eight birthdays from now I wanna be married!!!
Mom: *panic attack*

Me: I want to have my first kid when I'm around 24/25.
Mom: I don't want to be a grandma that soon!
Me: ...I don't really think that's your decision.

Me: Don't we have hot dog rolls?
Mom: Yeah! I have hot buns!!!
*awkward silence*

Me: Dad has an uncle?
Mom: Yeah! Uncle John, the one with all the models.

Sanya: Models???
*...*
Mom: CAR models!

Me: What's all that noise?
David: Erica and Mike are doing something...I don't really feel like turning around to look though.
Mike (in the background): We have all our clothes on!!!!
David: ...that's not what I meant.

David: You'll have to wait awhile before you find out.
Me: How awhile???
*...*
Me: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Body, Soul, Spirit

Tonight in small group, we talked about how we're made like God and exactly what that means. Originally, I just thought it was in like our appearance and also our feelings and nature and stuff like that...but then Mrs. G. talked tonight about how we're like God because we also have three parts.

God has the Trinity: Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

We have our body, our soul, and our spirit.

Mrs. G. then talked about each individually and what they mean for us and I really liked it so I'm gonna sum up what she said the best I can.

She described our body as being a tent. It's not permanent, it's only something you stay in short-term...it's what we need to get through our life on earth but IT DOES NOT DEFINE US. I loved that...she said, "Your body is not YOU". And of course that makes sense, like, you have so much more...personality, likes, dislikes, fears, emotions...all of those have nothing to do with your actual physical flesh. But it was just awesome to hear...our body does not define us.

Then our soul also has three parts: our will, our emotions, and our personality (I THINK that was the last one...can't remember exactly but that's the basic idea). She talked about how this is also something we're born with (like our body) and how every person has a soul.

However...not everyone has a spirit that's ALIVE. Everyone's born with a dead spirit...it only comes to life when Jesus enters our life and the Holy Spirit changes our view of the world. Our spirit helps us determine what is right and wrong and it gives us guidance through life when it comes to making decisions and thinking like God.

So yeah...I really liked that conversation, especially the part about how our bodies are really nothing. It's just something to maintain us until we get to heaven.

I hate consistency

"Foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds."

So says Ralph Waldo Emerson.

And I do quite agree with him.

I can't stand consistency. I can't stand every single day being the same. I can't stand routine. I understand basic routine...get up, shower, go to schoool, come home...that's ok. But I need variations WITHIN the routine. I need a nice surprise from someone. I need an unexpected joke. I need crazy laughter. I need to have a tickle fight. I need to break out rapping in the middle of my Chem class. I need to have the occasional pregnant day. I need to cry. I need to be happy. I need to feel free to be myself.

I guess I'm just saying I don't want to make habits out of things I do every day. I don't want to do something just cause that's what I've always done.

I need a little theme and variation in my life. I refuse to be a robot.

Just...not happy

I can't tell you what it really is I can only tell you what it feels like
And right now it's a steel knife in my windpipe
I can't breathe...

THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID

Yeah...it was just one of those days, haha. ;D

So lunch today was one of the absolute craziest lunches I've ever had...at the end, almost every single thing people were saying was a "that's what she said"...and it wasn't on purpose!!!

Ok, so background story first.

Last week we began a game of breastketball. Yes...breastketball. The point of the game is to try and throw food down other people's shirts. And yes, we are all very mature. :P

Then on Monday, Cara, Toby, Alice, and Tucker (I was sick) had a conversation about what if our blood was actually chocolate...instead of being blood.

There's the background.

SO TODAY...we're playing our normal breastketball (though according to Cara, it began prematurely ;D) and goofing off as usual. Nothing too out of the ordinary. And then...THE PUDDING. I brought chocolate pudding as part of my lunch today, and I brought it out just as we started going over the topic of chocolate blood again. So I take my spoon, grab Toby's arm, and then draw some lines across with the pudding and he starts pretending to freak out.

THEN. Somehow SOMEONE mentioned (it was probably me ;D) something about what would happen if a vampire bit a person...would there be blood or chocolate? (and this was after our conversation about a chocolate baby...WOW WE'RE WEIRD)

So in the spirit of being a vampire, I reach over and grab Alice's arm, and then kinda...bite her? Well it was more like kissing the inside of her arm, but when I moved my head there was a huge GLOB of chocolate on her arm in the shape of my mouth. We all start cracking up while Cara's freaking out and then Alice says, "I'm not cleaning that up! That's your spit! You take care of it!" So then I lean down and begin to lick her arm...further freaking Cara out and scarring her for life.

OH MYLANTA IT WAS HYSTERICAL.

It may sound weird (which it is) and gross (which it was) but just picture it (well maybe not)...it was HI LARRY US.

AND THEN...after the pudding was gone (I cleaned most of it up with a napkin), Cara looks at me and says, "Rachel...NEVER do that again!" and I ask, "Which part? The biting or the licking?" And we all just pause for a moment...and then Cara says, "I can't resist...THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" ;D

Ok, so that was only Part ONE of lunch.

Part Two involves Cara and breastketball.

We kinda all continously play during lunch, and towards the end, Tucker got a pretzel (maybe? not sure what it was) down Cara's front and this was the conversation/exclamations that followed:

Cara: AHHH! IT'S STUCK! IT'S STUCK! IT'S STUCK! I can't get it out! Ugh...where is it? I can't find it! I have to get it out!

*Tucker throws one down the back of her shirt*

Cara: Now there's TWO! They're BOTH stuck! I have to get them out!!! AHHHHH!!!

Simply put---we were all dying of laughter.

And then the last zinger...she got them out and then said SOMETHING like, "It's done...now I can open my eyes!"

.........................that is indeed what she said.
