Realization

I realized today that when someone accidentally bumps into me, or vice versa, I say "Oop!!!"...not "OopS!!!" I leave the 'S' off...and I never realized it until today! Haha!!

My Cadet!

Yesterday was SO much fun for me!!!

At around 1, my man got dropped off at my dad's with his brand new buzzed hair cut (which I very much like by the way ;D) and then we headed off to Souderton. First we went through the car wash...which is always SO great cause we always pretend we're underwater and the squids and octopuses (plural of octopus?) attack us and we scream and freak out and it's hilarious. :]

So then after that, dad drove us over to Calvary church where me and David were meeting his mom, who was in a meeting. We got there and did a little guesstimated wandering...cause I had been there before with Jenny and so I KINDA knew my way around but it was really confusing...SOMEHOW we managed to find the room the meeting was in...but everything got confused again...LONG STORY SHORT, we eventually made it out to the car. Haha.

Then it was off to Allentown!!! I guess I should explain why we were going there, huh? So earlier in the week, David got an email from his Cadets homies saying that there was an opportunity to play at this opening event for some organization this coming Saturday (which was yesterday...if you didn't figure that out ;D) and to let them know if you'd be available. LONG STORY SHORT AGAIN, it all worked out for him to go and so I drove up with him and his mom so I could hear him play and all that.

It was a COMPLICATED day though!!! We drove into Allentown and got to the Cadets office building after a lot of meandering. Haha, it was so funny, cause David just like LEAPED out of the car when we got there and we were all worried he wouldn't know where to go but he didn't care, he just went straight into the building! So his mom and I were just laughing cause I'm the extrovert and I would need a parent to come in with me while he's the introvert and he just ran right in!

It was around three when we dropped him off, and the performance was scheduled at six. So his mom and I got to go shopping!!! She is SO much fun, oh my goodness. In the car we talked about the most random things and were just cracking up and having a great time! She is so great. :] We found a Kohl's first, and went in and scoured the store for sales. After spending two hours there, we left with my Mother's Day present for mommy (not gonna post it cause I'm pretty sure she reads this...HI MOM!!!!!!!!!!!), pants for Emily, socks for his mom, and a nice blue polo shirt for him and another shirt for him that says "DUNDER MIFFLIN" on it.

When we got back to the car at five, we figured we could do some more shopping, so we checked out Talbots, but didn't find anything good there. Around 5:30, we got a call from David as we were driving down the highway. He told us we should head over to the place soon cause it was gonna start at like six and all that. So then we're driving along and pretty soon we're close to the Allentown airport...and I was like, "Uh...what are we doing Mrs. K.?" and she replied, "Uh...going to the performance?" I was SO confused!!! Then I realized that where they warmed up and practiced (the office in Allentown) was NOT where they were gonna be playing...they got a ride over there and we had to meet them there. SO CRAZY!

The GPS had us pull up to this place that looked rather empty and rather odd...like it was this warehouse type building, not what'd you expect for a mini Cadets performance. But it turned out to be ok, it was rather cute. :] David told us that we could watch from the upstairs balcony, cause to be seated downstairs was like $50. SO. We walked in, saw stands on the balcony across from where we entered, and figured we found the right place. We went in to use the bathroom, and while Mrs. K. was washing her hands I walked outside to look around and there were a few adults standing on the other side near the stands and I saw them looking at me and then one pointed so I quickly rushed back into the bathroom. "I think someone saw me Mrs. K!!!" I squealed and she laughed. We walked around to where they were and met Eric Kitchenmen, this famous YEA dude!!! He was SO cool and chill.

So as we're standing there talking, I hear some voices and I look over to this room pretty close to us, and all of a sudden I see the shades move...someone was peeking at me!! So I lean around Eric and I see these guys in uniform all lined up at the window, looking out at me. I figured one of them had to be my man, so I waved like crazy, hoping he saw. :]

Then a woman who had been standing there opened the door and went in, to take a big group picture of them (met her later, INCREDIBLY nice lady, gave her my email address so I can get those pictures that she took). As she was taking the picture I poked my head through the door to watch...and there he was...all Cadets looking in his uniform and his buzzed hair cut...he was epic!!! So I'm standing there, DYING to go in and give him a big hug but not sure if I was allowed to or anything, so I just stood there with a big goofy smile on my face.

Later on, I went in with his mom, and we took pictures (which are up on facebook... ;D) and I got to talk to him for a bit and then we left to talk to the two other parents that were there. There were only six trumpet players at the event, so it wasn't like a huge corps performance, but it was still REALLY cool.

They got started late...like at 6:45, but it was worth it!!! We stood across from them, on the other side of the balcony and watched them play. They sounded GREAT!!! And it all looked so cool, cause they were all in their uniforms with the shiny horns and all that jazz. I was SO happy to be there and see him play! Oh! I almost forgot! One of my favorite things (well the whole thing was my favorite...what I ESPECIALLY liked...) was this rippled effect thing they did. The one trumpet player on the far right brought his horn up first and the rest followed like in a ripple...and then the same thing when they brought them down, only the guy on the far left started it.

It was great...it made me so happy, I think I had a huge grin on my face the entire time they played...my man's a Cadet!!!

God's Blessings

So this is just a little thing but I love how God always gives us constant reminders of His love for us.

Mom had to go to the grocery store to do our usual big weekend trip (except we didn't get to go this weekend...) and the trips usually cost us around $120 or more, with coupons. Money's been really tight lately because of the whole family situation and she forgot the coupons today...BUT...she found a $25 gift card to Giant in her car!!! What a blessing!!!

There are no such things as coincidences, only God instances.

Mighty in the Land

Guess I should explain the new title, huh? :]

So at my and David's church yesterday there was a speaker named Robert Rogers. I don't wanna give away his story, so just watch this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs9zOuUyoz0

The clip that starts shortly after it begins is what we saw in church after Robert introduced himself, and then after we watched this he went on and shared more of his feelings and thoughts.

It was...incredible. I mean...if you watched the clip above, you saw how powerful just that video is and then his sharing afterwards was just amazing to listen to. His faith is so inspiring and I was so moved...the thing that hit me the hardest was afterwards when he was sharing. He began playing piano and he sang a song for us that he had written to his first baby girl, and while he sang there were pictures and video clips of him and his kids up on the screen. It was just so overwhelming for me...and then at the end there was a part where it showed his children on the screen waving at the camera and saying "I love you Daddy...I love you...", and sitting at the piano, Robert had finished his song and he was waving back...

At the end of his testiomony, he shared that he had written a book and he had some CDs and bookmarks and wristbands and things like that for sale out in the lobby at a listed price. But then he said this: "If you feel like you need to read the book, like it would help you in your faith or your life, just take it. You don't need to pay. Just walk up and take it. Besides, all of this belongs to God anyway." WOW.

So after the service, mom took the seven dollars in her purse and paid for a book. And David's mom got one and then David got four, cause he also said that if we want to give them to friends, feel free to take more. So currently the people reading it are: me, my mom, David, David's mom, Shep, and Tucker. And I talked to Alice about it today and I wanna give it to her afterwards, cause it is SO moving, and then I want everyone I know to read it...it's just so amazing.

Haha, I guess I haven't explained the title yet...so I told you about how Robert said there was a bookmark? Well on the bookmark is a picture of his family from the wedding that day, and then "Mighty in the Land" is written on the bottom, because it's the name of his foundation he started for orphanages around the world. The saying is taken from Psalm 112, which says: "His children will be mighty in the land." So that just kinda stuck out to me and I've been really impacted by this whole thing so I decided to change the title of the blog. The little blurb below the title, "Know God, no regrets" is kind of like his personal motto, and I really like that too.

So there's my explanation...I hope you watched the video, and I hope whoever's reading this gets to read the book eventually. Haha, I'll probably come find you sometime and say, "You need to read this book!" so when I do that, you'll know what it's all about. :]

"When God is our refuge, even when there is despair...there is hope! Even in the midst of sorrow...there is peace and joy." Robert Rogers

On My Way Home

You know what depressed me today? As I was walking home from the bus I saw a man in like one of those blue work jumpsuit things (sorta like janitors wear) standing in a yard with a hose, I guess he was treating the lawn or something. When I got closer, I noticed that he looked young. Really young. Like just out of high school and should be in college young. But there he was...standing there looking as bored as anything, treating a lawn. Bet that wasn't what he wanted to do with his life...

Now I'm not sure...

...is it really good to have this kind of mindframe? To think this way? To plan before knowing?

I'm not sure. I thought it was. I thought it was right. Now I'm not sure.

What do you do when you've convinced yourself of something for so long that it's the only thing you can live with? But what if you shouldn't live with it? What if it's bad for you? What if you need to think those thoughts? The not so pleasant ones?

Why can't God make these answers crystal clear? I ask Him every night...I plead...cause I need answers. I can't make them myself. I need Him to make them. I need Him to show me what's right. I need Him...

I have seen a peaceful expression turn to anger as fast as a whip cracks, and so the look on the face might mean less than what it seems to be.

Anger is a signal, and one worth listening to.

It is not necessary to understand things in order to argue about them.

It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change and others are not.

It is our choices...that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Whatever God's dream about man may be, it seems certain it cannot come true unless man cooperates.

Fight for your opinions, but do not believe that they contain the whole truth, or the only truth.

Behind every beautiful thing, there is some kind of pain.

When you love a person, you are giving them the power to hurt you.

Job...as in a book of the Bible

I am MAD. ANGRY. OUTRAGED. P.O.ed. Whatever word you wanna use...I feel like THAT.

He left.
He left his wife.
He left his kids.
He left his FAMILY.
And he's the happiest he's been in a long time?
THANKS.

You know, this whole situation really reminds me a lot of Job, from the Bible. Especially my mom. She's had her mom pretty much taken away from her. Her husband left. Her health has pretty much kicked the bucket too. Any ONE of those things would be a lot to handle. But all of them? AT ONCE??? She's doing a pretty darn good job for having to deal with all of this. No one better judge her for anything. Or I will bite your head off.

And he wants to MOVE BACK IN??? Oh no. I won't go back to something that isn't real.

I am in that mood. That mood where I just wanna SCREAM at him. And I don't care if he screams back. You know, I WANT him to. Cause I am at my best when someone's yelling back in my face. Boy would I be able to whoop his butt good...I have so much, SO much I could use against him, and I wouldn't hesitate to. I'm in THAT mood.

I love him. I really really do. He's still my dad. I will always love him. But him being my dad doesn't mean I won't ever get mad at him, won't ever wanna scream at him.

...you know what's sad? It would not make ONE difference. If he's seen my mom sobbing because of this, seeing me crying and yelling is not gonna change one STINKIN' thing.

"And truth be told I miss you
And truth be told I'm LYING!!!"
