Today was a good day. :]
The jazz band toured one of the elementary schools this morning, so I got to miss a lot of school! YES.
I headed down to the band room during homeroom, changed into my jazz uniform (IT WAS SO HOT), got stuff together, and then everyone went out and we all got onto the bus. We got to the school, unloaded, helped set up the stage and everything, got our first glimpses at the East middle school jazz band (SOME OF THEM WERE TALLER THAN ME!! NOT FAIR!!), warmed up, then went outside for awhile just to sing through some songs while we waited for the assembly to start.
Haha! We were outside singing, and when it got to Jimmy's solo, he just went CRAZY! It sounded so cool!! Then at the end of "Cherokee" JP has the drum part thingy and it was hilarious!! Ahh...good times...sing throughs are fun. Hehe! I remember when we would do sing throughs for marching band and we'd be in the ballad and Jake would be singing pretty much by himself at the solo part and his voice would crack SOOOOO badly!!! That always made my day...and then that one run through when he like "whammied" his solo!! AHHH...good times...good times...
I CANNOT WAIT FOR MARCHING BAND. I am SOO excited!!!! It's gonna be awesom. It's gonna be beyond awesom. It'll be BEYAWESOM. Haha...so we recruited some new peeps today from East. :D We got little Waz doing it, trombone player named Jonathon (he's gonna be my little buddy next year...though he's taller than me), and I talked to some of the other 8th graders too. I didn't know any of them at all, but I just love going up and talking to them. I'm the "big" (metaphorically speaking here...) high schooler and I'm talking to them, so they listen. :] Don't you just love how that works? ;D
Anyway, back to the performances...East did pretty good. Saxes were out of tune a lot...but at least you could hear them. Cara told me that West's sax section isn't very assertive... :[ I'm gonna have to change that...
After East we went on, we did...meh. Not our best performance at all. But hey---it was fun. Then East came back and we played "Louie Louie" all together. THAT was fun! The girl I paired up with (East's first alto player) complemented me. It's nice to hear a complement even if it's from a 7th grader. Makes me feel special. :]
Trolley kept hitting me during the song though!! He was standing behind me and he was bumping my hip with his slide!! So at one part I just stopped playing and turned around and glared at him, that made him stop. ;D
Then when we got back we all changed out of our uniforms and then ate lunch in the band room. I finally headed to class at like...11:32. It was SO great...missed most of science class---YESS!!!!
The rest of my day was just a lot of fun. Messing around with friends and stuff and going crazy. Good times. :]
And now I'm home! And it's FRIDAY!! WOOT!!!!
I'm going to the open mic thing tonight at my youth group...unfortunately, I can't sing. :'''''''( I had a sore throat, sang for a really long time, and lost my voice. It's almost back to normal today, but I can't sing. *insert very sad smiley face here*
Then on Saturday I'm going to DK's Reading Buccaneers preview, WOO!!! That's gonna be SO much fun, can't wait!!
And Sunday is Mother's Day!! I love Mother's Day, always fun family times.
THEN.
ON.
MONDAY.
IT.
IS.
MY.
BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just a LITTLE bit excited...just a little... ;D
Side note for Cara: there were hand sanitizer dispensers at the elementary school. Thought you'd like to know. ;D
Side note for self: ok, so we were all changing in the back room and all I gotta say is...HE IS RIPPED!! WOO! Not saying who...well, actually there's two...but MAN!! Guys with abs are my weakness...
